Don’t be afraid to WORSHIP GOD

Worship seems to be one of those “christian” terms that brings fear of people perspective, instead of reverence for the Lord. I know because I’ve been there and still struggle sometimes. But why?

I know for me, I’m generally a reserved person. I prefer not to have all eyes on me. I felt like I would be criticized or mocked if I got too much into worship. So, FEAR.

Another reason is that I didn’t know what to do. Was I supposed to raise my hands like I just do care? Was the electric slide or square dancing too much? So, lack of knowledge.

I would like to mention that I am not a theologian. I am just like you. However, I do understand that I am posturing myself as a teacher. I simply pray and ask God for help to understand, and I move forward in faith. My hope is that you will take what I am saying to the Lord and, through your own study, see what the Lord is telling you. Or maybe he gives you something to add to it. If that’s the case, leave a comment; it may help me or someone else.

When I read Psalms 95:1-7 I understand:

  1. Its not about me, so I need to set aside my thoughts, wants, needs, essentially set aside ME.
  2. God, the creator of heaven and earth, land and sea, the creator of me. He wants something from me: my attention.
  3. Sing, Shout, Dance, just do it joyfully. This isn’t your favorite country, hip hop, pop, or r&b singer; this is GOD ALMIGHTY. He has the power to create and destroy. He parted the Red Sea. He saves me from intrusive thoughts. He healed the sick. He kept my family and me safe when we had no place to call home. He rose Lazerus from the dead. Worship. We do this in awe and admiration. In surrender and hope. In faith and love.

So, YES! Lift your hands, shout until your heart is content, cry out in reverence. Its less about what your physically doing and more about your heart, while your worshipping. If you are truly focussing on God, it wont matter who sees. Nor will it matter that you dont know what your doing. Just look at David!☺️

For Reference Psalms 95:1-7:

Come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come to him with Thanksgiving.
Let us sing psalms of praise to him.
For the Lord is a great God,
a great King above all Gods.
He holds in his hands the depths of the earth
and the mightiest mountains.
The sea belongs to him, for he made it.
His hands formed the dry land, too.
Come, let us worship and bow down.
Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God.
We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.

  1. Very nice. I can feel the experience and deliverance through your words. The scripture is encouraging. All praise to God! It’s simple and a great reminder to a seasoned, growing Christ follower. I too hope to provide excitement to turn to God, in Jesus Holy name! Amen
